2022-2023 Music Program
Music registration for 4th-6th grades has officially closed for the 2022-23 school year. We are happy to report that there are over 200 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-grade students signed up for music classes in the Mark West District this year, which puts us back at pre-pandemic levels for participation! If your 4th-6th grade student is signed up for a music class, please help them remember to bring their instrument to school on every music day – and take it home every music day as well! Ask your child to play or sing for you! Students should try to practice a little bit every day. Happy music making!
Do you appreciate music and arts education being offered at your school? Help us to keep these educational opportunities going by supporting the Mark West Education Foundation – a parent group dedicated to making music and arts education available to students in the Mark West District! We would love to grow our music and arts offerings at all our schools and could use your ideas and help to make it happen! Please join us at our next board meeting on Monday, October 3rd at 6:00pm via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/
Welcome to the Mark West Education Foundation
The Mark West Education Foundation is a separate, nonprofit organization. The mission of the Education Foundation is to enrich educational programs throughout the Mark West Union School District. The Foundation’s goal is to build sustainable, ongoing resources for the district by developing partnerships with our diverse community in order to ensure quality educational opportunities for our students and staff.
By partnering with our local businesses and community, the MWUSD Education Foundation provides funding through educational grants which directly benefit the Mark West School District’s students, staff, and programs.
The end of the 2019-2020 and thus far this year have been unlike any other. However, the challenges did not deter us from our mission to support our students, staff, and programs. Although we could not hold events in person, the Foundation held a Virtual Fundraiser benefiting the educational grant program. Your support of the Foundation has also provided Kara Kaufman the ability to continue her music program virtually, including choir, guitar, violin and recorder; our choir was able to participate in the Virtual Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by the Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center and, at the end of last year, the music students participated in an virtual music concert!
The MWUSD Education Foundation board members have continued to develop partnerships with the business community. As we eagerly await the students return, we will continue to strive to support educational excellence and enrichment programs by planning Pledge Drives and events benefiting our students, staff and programs.
We value your input and encourage you to become involved! For more information regarding the MWUSD Education Foundation, please visit our website at www.mwef.org or contact your school principal.
